From Grass to Grace: Ghanaian Celebrities Who Made It From No Where

There is a saying which goes like "Fame Is A shame if you are not making a living".In Ghana,there are many famous people with different backgrounds and how the shot their way into stardom. We've touched on Ghanaian Celebrities who are rumoured  to be Dada Bees and they fall in the category of celebs who had everything served to let me say are from good homes(Financial Wise).Today we are going to talk about Famous Ghanaians who made it from Grass to Grace.

There are a few names which come to mind when ever we mention Celebrities who were once broke and could even hardly afford a 3 square meal a day. We are out with a list of a few famous Ghanaians you probably didnt know were once broke. Kindly scroll down view the full list.

1. Sarkodie

He grew up in Tema community 9 and things werent that smooth for him growing up. He summarised everything about his childhood in a song called "Mile 7 Saga". Today, Sarkodie is counted amongst the list of good rappers Africa is blessed with. He has also won several awards and today he is living happily with this long time girlfriend, Tracy and they have a beautiful daughter called TiTi.

2. Shatta Wale

Unlike Sarkodie, Shatta Wale was born into a good home(Financial Wise) where he had everything at his disposal but the Young chap left home at an early stage to chase his dreams of becoming a music star. Shatta Wale ended up on the streets of Nima and things were ugly back then. Today he is rated as the Best African Dancehall act and he brags with a lot of achievements and the luxury that comes with it.

3. Lil Win

Kojo Nkansah,popularly known as Lil Win in the showbiz industry shot his way to stardorm in a short period of time after he featured in acouple of Kumawood movies. The comic actor/rapper rose from a nobody status and became a celebrity. He's been awarded the face of MTN for a period of time and has also grabbed lots of awards as far as Ghanaian movie is concerned.

4. Funny Face

He started his career as a Tv personality.. life wasn't so smooth for Funny Face after his tertiary education at University of Ghana,Legon. Today he drives a Range Rover which he received as a gift from one of the greatest football personalities for entertaining him as a comedian. Funny Face is living well and making it big from what he loves doing best(comedy).


5. Asamoah Gyan

A young kid from no where made it big to mainstream and today he plays for the biggest football clubs in the world. Asamoah own mind blowing mansions and a fleet of cars we all dream of having. We can never leave him out of celebs who made it from grass to grace.

6. Kwame Despite

Talk of the richest people in Ghana and Kwame Despite's name would surely pop up. He owns lots of companies in Ghana. He started his early life at Dunkwa-on-offin as a cassette dealer. Today, almost half of Ghana's radio stations are registered in his name and he owns a lot more companies. This is a self made billionaire who made it from grass to grace.

7. Abraham Attah

We all know how Abraham Attah(a street boy) shot his way to stardom and now his name is a household name. He's won several international awards and rumors even has it that he's persuing his education in the United States.

8. Kalybos & Ahuof3 Patri

They started making waves with their "Boys Kasa" skit which started airing on YouTube and then within a short span, Kalybos and Ahuof3 Patri were all over our Tv screens as brand ambassadors for Airtel(a big telecommunication network in Ghana). They've also featured in several movies and also won a couple of awards for themselves.

10. DJ Breezy

DJ Breezy grew up in a village where there was no electricity.. today his name comes amongst the list of great music producers in Ghana. He's produced songs for artiste and musicians across Africa and beyond. He is a true celeb who made it from no where to stardom.
